Kapitel’s logistics centre at Rukki tee 5 has been awarded BREEAM In-Use sustainability certificate
Kapitel, which expanded into the logistics and industrial property business earlier this year, continues to invest in reducing the ecological footprint of its real estate portfolio. In December, the logistics centre at Rukki tee 5 in the Rukki Industrial Park, Rae Parish, was awarded the international BREEAM In-Use sustainability certificate with the rating Very Good, which evidences building’s low environmental impact and high comfort of use.
During the certification process, the logistics centre at Rukki tee 5 was assessed in nine categories: health and wellbeing, water and energy consumption, transport connections, waste management, resilience, materials, land use and pollution. As a result, the Rukki tee 5 logistics centre was awarded a BREEAM In-Use sustainability certificate with the rating Very Good. The building scored highest in the energy consumption, resilience and health and wellbeing categories. The sustainability certification was carried out by UAB Vesta Consulting and the tenant of the Rukki tee 5 logistics centre is Eugesta Eesti AS.
In addition to the logistics centre at Rukki tee 5, Kapitel is also obtaining certification for the logistics centre at Rukki tee 1 in the Rukki Industrial Park, Rae Parish, where the tenants are Smarten Logistics AS, ON24 AS and Itella Estonia OÜ. Kapitel develops all its new industrial properties to meet the BREEAM sustainability standard at the level Very Good as a minimum.
This summer, the company acquired four land plots in the Gate Tallinn development area in Laagri, with a total area of 60,000 sq m, where warehouse and industrial buildings with a gross area of approximately 26,000 sq m and a height of up to 18 metres can be developed. It is one of the largest fully developed industrial parks in Estonia, where Makita Baltic will open its central warehouse and training centre in 2023 and Rimi Eesti will have its new head office, central kitchen and logistics centre from 2024.
Kapitel is one of the largest real estate companies in the Baltics, with a portfolio of more than 244,000 sq m of rental premises. The company owns four office buildings (Delta Plaza and Sõpruse Ärimaja in Tallinn, Narbuto 5 in Vilnius and I.P.Pavlova 5 in Prague) and has holdings in four shopping centres (Spice and Spice Home in Riga, Panorama in Vilnius and Viru Keskus in Tallinn). The company owns Nordic Hotel Forum (operated by Nordic Hotels OÜ) and, with Infortar AS, co-owns Tallink City Hotel, operated by Tallink Hotels. Kapitel also has a holding in Kapitel Logistics OÜ, which owns two logistics centres on the Tallinn Ring Road.
