Shopping centre Spice invests 7 million euros in refurbishment project

Spice shopping centre in Riga has launched a refurbishment project, which includes an interior design update, renovation of technical systems and developing new areas with new features. The investment in the project is seven million euros and the works will be completed by the end of 2022.

“This is a significant project for Spice, where we have invested a lot of resources to develop a concept that meets the values of our brand and target customers. The aim of the refurbishment project is to create an inspiring environment, and each element has been selected with the aim of making customers feel better at our centre,” said Marie Vaino, Managing Director and Member of the Management Board of Spice and Spice Home.

The refurbishment project involves interior design update, replacing the floor tiles and renovation of the technical/engineering systems to bring them up to date. In addition, Spice is creating areas with new features, such as a family room and a play area for visitors of all ages. Particular attention is paid to lighting, and in contrast to the cold-toned lighting traditionally used in shopping malls, Spice will receive a warm-toned lighting with a new concept.

The new interior design concept is created based on the local Latvian color palette and emphasizes freshness, light, warmth and naturalness. Various international and local professional partners are involved in the refurbishment project: the author of the basic concept NStudio, strategic creative consultants Ilona Bogdane and Nora Gavare, construction supervision SIA Fabrum and project manager Sanita Rubene.

Spice is one of the leading shopping centres in Latvia. Located on the left bank of the Daugava River, it is just about a 10-minute drive from the Riga centre and can be conveniently reached from the Riga Airport. Spice’s two malls, Spice and Spice Home, are home to more than 150 brands and over 200 shops. In addition, there are restaurants, cafés and several services. Nearly 2,000 parking spaces are available for the convenience of visitors.
