A colossal production and storage building completed in Rae rural municipality

This week, the leading real estate developer in the Baltic States named ELL Real Estate handed over the new mattress and top mattress production and storage building situated in Lehmja village, Harju County, to Hilding Anders, the biggest string bed manufacturer in Europe. First mattresses should be ready in the village of Lehmja already in September.

According to Vahur Kaska, the CEO of ELL Real Estate, the surface area of the building erected on the territory of Rae Industrial Park is 15 000 square meters and it will enable Hilding Anders Baltic to increase its production volume up to approximately 1.4 million mattress covers and 100 000 mattresses per year. The rental contract was signed in October 2007 and the construction work lasted from October 2007 until August this year. The main contractor to perform the design and construction work of the building was AS Gustaf.

Hilding Anders Baltic is owned by the Hilding Anders Group, which operates in 26 European countries and is the largest string bed manufacturer in Europe. Since 2004, Hilding Anders Baltic has been selling its products in the Baltic States under the brand name Sleepwell.  According to Janek Haud, the CEO of the company, Hilding Anders is creating 50 new jobs in Rae rural municipality by relocating the activities of the company into the new factory. The total number of people to be employed in the new factory extends to 250.

„The need for a new and bigger factory was mostly due to the increased demand for both mattress covers and mattresses within the Group,” said Haud. „ The increased sales volume of Sleepwell and Bed4U products in the Baltic States equally had a role in the expansion process.” He added that compared to the previously used premises, the new factory will enable the company to automatize its production process more extensively and bring the entire spectrum of the company’s activities under the same roof.
