Viru Keskus set a record in 2017
Last year, Estonia’s most visited shopping centre, Viru Keskus, set an all-time record in total sales and visitor numbers. During the year, 15.9 million people visited the shopping centre and the shops and service outlets posted sales of 141.6 million euros.
“Last January we announced a new sales record, and it stood for only a year, as we again achieved growth in turnover and beat the previous visitor number best as well,” said member of the Viru Keskus management board Ants Vasar.
For this year, Vasar said, Viru Keskus is projecting sales growth of 3-4% at the shopping centre’s stores and service locations.
Viru Keskus continues to comfortably retain the Estonian leader position among shopping centres in terms of both visitor numbers and retail performance, measured by sales per square metre. According to Colliers International Estonia, the figure for sales per square metre at Viru Keskus is markedly higher than performance at the top 5 shopping centres in Helsinki and Riga.
Located in the heart of Tallinn, Viru Keskus has the highest visitor numbers of any shopping and entertainment centre in Estonia. The complex has over 100 shops and service locations. Viru Keskus has been awarded the only LEED O&M Silver rating certificate for sustainable building operation and management. The centre’s marketing and communication activity has won 28 awards.
