Kalasadama outdoor swimming pools

Kapitel is developing a year-round open-air complex of outdoor swimming pools on the Kalasadama 5 and 7 properties by the sea next to Linnahall in Tallinn. The centre will include heated outdoor pools, various saunas, a restaurant, flexible event spaces and outdoor terraces. The centre will be operated by Nordic Urban, a Finnish company that runs a similar centre in Helsinki, Allas Sea Pool.

In addition to the buildings, we will create a new 200-metre illuminated, landscaped and furnished promenade, which will be available for everyone. We also plan to revamp the entire Kalasadama quay and its surroundings.

A total of 13 designs participated in the public architecture competition organized by Kapitel. The winning entry “Fishermans Wharf” by Architect Must focuses on the historical atmosphere of the fishing port, creating a complete public space around the quays and promenade of different heights, merged with outdoor pools and restaurant terraces, above which the harbour building with its recognisable silhouette is enthroned.
