Every Kapitel office building is now certified: Delta Plaza received the BREEAM In-Use certificate with a rating of Excellent

Kapitel continues to invest in increasing sustainability and creating a better working environment, and has now certified all office buildings in its portfolio. The Delta Plaza building in Tallinn is the second completed building in Estonia to receive the BREEAM In-Use green certificate with a rating of Excellent.

The Delta Plaza building scored 71.2%, which guarantees the rating of Excellent. It is the second completed building in Estonia to reach such a high level. Among projects currently under construction, only one building, the Arter Quarter, also a Kapitel development, has an equally high rating.

During the certification process, the Delta Plaza building was assessed in eight different categories: occupant health and wellbeing, energy consumption, water consumption, resource consumption, sustainability, emissions, land use, and transport. Tepsli carried out the certification process.

“Delta Plaza’s assessments are consistently very high across the categories, with occupant wellbeing, energy consumption, and transport standing out the most. Much has been done in Delta Plaza for the comfort of occupants: a comfortable indoor climate and versatile options for its regulation, special recreational areas inside the building and nearby, and the necessary infrastructure for bicycles and electric cars. Delta Plaza is easily accessible by public transport, and there is a diverse selection of support services in the immediate vicinity of the building,” commented Margus Tali, Tepsli’s BREEAM-certified auditor.

The remaining office buildings, which are part of Kapitel’s portfolio (Sõpruse Ärimaja in Tallinn, Narbuto 5 in Vilnius and  I.P. Pavlova 5 in Prague), hold a BREEAM In-Use rating of Very Good. In addition to the building certificate (Part 1 – Asset Performance), Sõpruse Ärimaja has received another for building management (Part 2 – Management Performance).

Both office buildings currently under construction, the Arter Quarter in Tallinn and Elemental Skanste in Riga, have been designed to meet the BREEAM New Construction green certificate rating of Excellent. Kapitel has significantly improved the Elemental Skanste office building design by implementing several changes after a thorough analysis, so that upon completion, the building could receive the BREEAM certificate rating of Outstanding. This makes it the first building in Latvia to receive such a high rating.
